As the director of the human resource and legal department, Amanda Heydenreich’s duties and responsibilities include providing proactive legal assistance and advice on various legal issues like commercial contracts, dispute resolutions, agreements, regulatory compliance, employment, and governance. “I work with other managers on particular projects such as policies and procedures, disciplinaries and employment agreements,” she explains.
A qualified lawyer, Heydenreich’s field of expertise is labour law. “Although it is important to make sure you have a good educational background, a qualification is not enough as it takes determination and hard work,” she says.
Her duties also include advising on minimal liability and legal exposure for the company, ensuring that the legal documents and other contractual documents are effectively drafted, reviewed, interpreted and vetted. She ensures that the company’s framework, policies, process, systems and limits are communicated and contribute to effective implementation
