Deon Kellerman has navigated the Information Communications Technology (ICT) sphere for the past four years and enjoys all it entails. Setting goals for the organisation allows him to slowly direct the company towards reaping success and becoming well recognised on international platforms.

Kellerman says most of his skills were learned by virtue of doing and experience. This is what has kept him steadfast to lead a successful ICT company.

As the founder and managing director (MD) of the company, Kellerman successfully endured the ups and downs the company has faced, including the pandemic. He says Covid-19 truly allowed him and the team he leads to experience valuable lessons during the highs and lows it brought about, especially for the small business community. “I am proud to say that most of the lessons learnt were in the darkest hours of Covid-19. Due to the agility and resilience of the team, we were able to adapt well by re-aligning our organisation and still deliver to add value to our clients. It was not only a down time, but also very eventful,” he said.

Kellerman ICT offerings

Kellerman ICT exists to solve the critical issues facing its clients, both big and small.

According to Kellerman, making use of this unique approach is not the only thing that differentiates the business from others in the industry, but also what makes them successful. The company believes that through existing vetted partners, they provide a broad range of services and solutions to help organisations facilitate change, achieve their vision and optimise performance and productivity. Some of the products and services include web development and design, website monitoring, technical support, infrastructure support, ICT consultation, networking, security framework as well as hardware and software sales.

Stronger through hardship

Similar to many other companies, Covid-19 has affected the operations of the company in both positive and negative ways.

Pausing the operations of the company to find better solutions allowed Kellerman ICT the advantage to review existing ways of catering to customers and better their software development opportunities in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) landscape.

A typical working day for Kellerman begins at 05:00 by reviewing news and updated reports. After this, he reviews forecasts and projections which include the review trajectory of projects and deliverables. Following this, he joins daily meetings with the Kellerman ICT team where they prioritise company culture, and review opportunities to be engaged in with potential third parties and industry leaders.

Goals

Making sure that success is attained within an organisation starts with setting goals. One of the short-term goals is to increase the company’s footprint within Namibia and to eventually become a name that echoes competence and delivery of quality software solutions on a global stage.

Observing success within a company keeps the staff encouraged to perform better and is a great part of doing business.

“Our team has increased by three times the size in only three months. We have maintained keeping our corporate culture first and foremost on the minds and hearts of all staff. This is done well because we are focused and understand the value people have integrated with technology.”

When he is not working, he enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family. “I aspire to create a society that understands that people have value over money. So, let us make a better effort to treat each other with empathy and care and make that a legacy,” he said.
