Swakopmund Secondary School LRC visit inspires leadership and collaboration
The Learner Representative Council (LRC) from Swakopmund Secondary School shared valuable insights following a recent visit to Okahandja Secondary School, bringing together young leaders in a spirit of collaboration and learning.
On 6 March 2026, Okahandja Secondary School had the privilege of hosting the visiting LRC members for a programme aimed at strengthening leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills. The visit also provided a platform for learners to exchange ideas, reflect on their experiences, and learn from one another in a supportive environment.
The delegation received a warm welcome from the school’s leadership and learners, setting the tone for a productive and engaging day. Throughout the visit, the Swakopmund LRCs led interactive workshops focusing on topics such as effective communication, conflict resolution and event planning. Learners participated enthusiastically, gaining practical tips on how to improve leadership within their own school structures.
Activities included group discussions, role-playing exercises and brainstorming sessions, all designed to encourage active participation and critical thinking. One of the highlights was a leadership session, during which the visiting LRCs shared strategies on building strong teams and managing challenges. Their confidence and public speaking skills left a lasting impression, with many learners taking notes on how to apply these approaches in their own roles.
The visit also offered an opportunity for cultural exchange, as learners from both schools shared stories and traditions. A guided tour of Okahandja Secondary School’s facilities, including the library, computer laboratories and sports fields, further enriched the experience.
Organisers described the visit as insightful and rewarding. They expressed confidence that the knowledge gained will contribute to stronger leadership and more effective school events in the future. The day concluded with appreciation for the visitors’ time and a shared commitment to continued collaboration.
