Foreword

It’s always good to look back at what a country has achieved since gaining independence and see where we can still improve.

In this supplement, we focus on some crucial sectors in the country and see what progress has been made over the past 33 years.

The agriculture sector, for instance, experienced moderate growth in 2022, despite numerous challenges over the past few years.

Namibia’s tourism sector has seen remarkable growth since independence but is still recovering slowly after the Covid-19 pandemic.

While Namibia may have inherited a good health infrastructure, over 30 years later, there are critical shortages of health equipment, staff and chronic medications.

Meanwhile, the idea that companies should play a positive role in the community and consider the environmental and social impact of their business decisions has become more and more important over the past few years. As such, this supplement also features articles on corporate social responsibility (CSR).
