Let us live!

Let us live!

As I write the editorial for this year’s Health Focus my mind keeps wandering to the saying “wisdom is wasted on the old and youth is wasted on the young”. Prompted by the devastating loss of a dearest soulsister, friend and mentor who I actually followed into the health beat at the newspaper, my mind keeps wandering to so many memories we shared while she was still with me and her loved ones on earth. If only I shared more of myself and more of my time. To remember more clearly because I was truly in the moment. Oh, the wisdom brought on by loss and lessons learnt from grief and age! Therefore dearest reader, I urge you to truly live the life we are so extremely blessed to experience. To be thankful for every single breath we are able to take, to hug the people closest to us and tell and show them how much we love them. To appreciate even the mundane and routine that we so often want to run away from. To be mindful and kind and to always, always remember that this grand thing called life is to be lived. In laughter and yes, also in sorrow. And that we make sure the legacy we leave behind to those who loved us, looked up to us and who in some way we touched, will last even longer as their lifetime. In memory in Ronelle Rademeyer and in the words of Monthy Python -Try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations.”
