African Stars Queens remains positive
African Stars Queens FC remain optimistic about challenging the top two teams despite dropping points over the weekend in the FNB Women’s Super League.
The club managed to beat Windhoek City FC 1–0 on Saturday but suffered a 4–0 defeat to league champions Mighty Gunners Ladies on Sunday.
Their coach, Jackson Hango, is however satisfied with the position the team finds itself in despite the dropped points.
“We came to Windhoek and collected three points, and that is very important for us.
“We managed to beat Windhoek City on Saturday, but Mighty Gunners Ladies proved too strong for us in the second match of the weekend.
“As a football club, we are content with the place we are in at the moment and can only improve our performances in the near future,” Hango said.
Mighty Gunners Ladies are top of the log with 28 points after 11 matches played so far.
The champions are followed by Ongos Ladies FC on 26 points, while UNAM Bokkies are third with 20 points.
African Stars Queens are fourth on the table with 20 points, while Khomas Nampol Ladies complete the top five with 18 points.
Windhoek City FC coach Andrew Gabriel expressed disappointment following his team’s defeats this past weekend.
The team suffered a 5–1 loss to Mighty Angels on Sunday and are currently sixth on the log.
“It is true that we did not have a good weekend, but we are fighting to get results.
“It was disappointing, but as a team we will continue fighting and we will bounce back,” Gabriel said.
