Blue Waters Football Club (FC) will host King Kauluma (KK) Palace on Saturday at 14:00 before taking on league leaders Eeshoke Chula Chula on Sunday at 15:30 at Jan Wilkens Stadium in Walvis Bay.

The coastal side are in urgent need of points as they aim to climb away from the lower half of the table, but they come up against opponents enjoying strong runs of form.

Head coach Uerikondjera “Mamie” Kasaona believes home-ground advantage could prove vital.

“We know we have to secure points this weekend because we are not in a comfortable position on the log.

“The team has prepared well throughout the week, and it is time to deliver maximum points.

“These will not be easy matches because we are facing two highly motivated teams performing well in the league,” Kasaona told Sport Wrap yesterday.

Blue Waters earned a point in a goalless draw against Unam FC last Sunday but suffered a 1-0 defeat to Ongos FC after conceding a late goal the previous day.

Kasaona said the squad has moved on from those setbacks and remains focused on the task ahead.

“Dwelling on missed opportunities will not help us. We have put that disappointment behind us and must avoid conceding crucial points in similar fashion,” she said.

Tough opposition

Both visiting teams arrive at the coast in confident mood.

KK Palace collected two points on the road last weekend following 1-1 draws against Young African and Tigers.

Eeshoke Chula Chula present arguably the biggest challenge. The northern side claimed six away points after defeating Tigers 4-2 in Windhoek and edging Young African 1-0 in Gobabis.

Chula Chula head coach John Sikerete acknowledged the pressure that comes with leading the table.

“As a team at the top, we know it will not be easy to go to the coast and return with maximum points.

“Teams will fight hard against us, but we are prepared to play our football and handle the pressure,” Sikerete said.

League standings

Blue Waters sit 10th on the table with four wins, nine draws and five defeats from 18 matches. They are seven points clear of the relegation zone.

KK Palace are seventh, three points ahead of the coastal side.

Eeshoke Chula Chula lead the standings with 37 points from 18 matches.
