Young African ready for northern sides
Young African FC owner Marley Ngarizemo is calling on supporters to paint Legare Stadium green during this weekend’s double-header matches against King Kauluma Palace and Eeshoke Chula Chula.
The home side is desperate for points following lacklustre performances over the past few fixtures in the Namibia Premier Football League.
For Ngarizemo’s men, the road to redemption continues against two northern teams that have been performing well so far.
Young African will battle Palace on Saturday at 16:00, before squaring off with the formidable Chula Chula at 13:00 on Sunday at Legare Stadium.
“These are crucial encounters for us and we urge the fans to come out in their numbers and paint the stadium green and red.
“The players are fired up for these matches because they know we need to get points on the board following our recent performances.
“We are up against two teams above us on the table, but our goal is to make Gobabis as hostile as possible in order to collect maximum points this weekend,” Ngarizemo said.
Young African played to a 0-0 draw against Tigers in Windhoek last weekend, leaving them in an uncomfortable position on the log.
The club is currently 11th on the table and just three points away from the relegation zone.
Ngarizemo’s men have won only four matches this season, while losing six of the 15 they have played so far.
Young African have also dropped points on five occasions, putting them in an alarming position compared to last season when they were riding a wave of success.
They are first up against a side currently sitting seventh on the table, having collected 22 points from 16 matches.
Palace have lost only four matches this season, while securing five victories and seven draws.
Chula Chula, on the other hand, are a team in form, playing with finesse and flair.
They are currently in second position behind log leaders African Stars, having dominated opponents in the Premier League in recent matches.
The northerners have won nine of their 16 league matches, losing only three in the process.
Chula Chula have also drawn four matches this season, with their latest stalemate coming against northern rivals King Kauluma Palace last weekend.
The two sides travelling to Gobabis played to a 0-0 draw at Oshakati Independence Stadium last Sunday.
Gate price
Tickets at the gate are selling for N$40 per person, while those entering with vehicles are required to pay an additional N$10.
“There are also vendor stalls available for the entire weekend, and people must be warned that no alcohol from outside will be allowed into the stadium.
“There will be searches conducted on all vehicles entering the stadium to ensure that supporters purchase refreshments inside the venue,” Ngarizemo told this publication.
