Former First Lady Monica Geingos on Thursday evening premiered ‘Lead From Where You Are: The Journey of the Office of the First Lady (2015–2024)’ at Ster Kinekor, Grove Mall, in Windhoek.

The documentary recounts a near-decade of advocacy and impact under the Office of the First Lady and the One Economy Foundation (ONE).

The film, which traces challenges, triumphs, and lessons from nine transformative years, offers an introspective and locally grounded narrative. “It’s a story told in our own voice,” Geingos said, underscoring the importance of documenting Namibian leadership from within.

Speaking at the premiere, Geingos emphasised that the production was not branded under the Monica Geingos Foundation by design. “It was about purpose and passion, not personality,” she said. “We violated that principle to tell our story because if we don’t, others will - often with distortion.”

More than a reflection, the documentary also serves as a call to action. Geingos, who helped raise over N$100 million through ONE, urged Namibians to chronicle their own work and journeys.

‘Lead From Where You Are’ affirms that leadership, grounded in accountability and authenticity, can and should be archived by those who lived it.

The premiere was attended by high government officials, ONE partners, and members of the media. Network Media Hub was there at the screening and captured these moments. All photos Michael Kayunde
