The capital’s food scene just got a flavourful upgrade with the opening of Bossa, a vibrant new restaurant that officially launched at Maerua Mall last week.

Stepping into Bossa, it’s clear this isn't just another eatery: It’s an experience. From the warm-toned, family-friendly interiors to the panoramic views from the rooftop deck, Bossa aims to offer something for everyone, whether you’re looking for a quiet breakfast, a hearty steak lunch, or a lively evening cocktail with friends.

“All you need to be happy is good food,” said My.na Property host Aina Kweyo, who conducted exclusive interviews with the management team at the launch.

Culinary hub

At the heart of the eatery is Malan van den Berg, General Manager of Bossa Windhoek, who shared the excitement surrounding the opening.

“We employ 95 staff members, from 40 waiters to kitchen staff and bar personnel, supported by nine dedicated managers,” Van den Berg said. “Our goal is to bring top-notch service and a great atmosphere to Windhoek.”

The opening night was a festive affair, complete with a curated guest list of service suppliers, corporates and influencers who enjoyed a showcase of the full Bossa menu in bite-sized tastings, cocktails from the bar and networking under Windhoek’s golden sunset.

SA favourite with a local twist

Originally established in 2002 in Paarl, South Africa, Bossa has since grown into a beloved chain with 29 restaurants, and Windhoek marks its very first international location. “We’re thrilled to bring Bossa to Namibia,” said Ian Filion, Marketing Manager of the Bossa Group. “This is our first step outside of South Africa, and the reception has been incredible.”

Though rooted in South African culinary tradition, Bossa Windhoek brings a distinctly Namibian flavour to the table. “You’ll see it in our artwork — lions, dunes, local landscapes — and taste it on the menu,” Van den Berg explained. “We’ve got kapana-spiced wings, pap and ‘smear’, and we’re the only Bossa offering a 750 g Tomahawk steak!”

Family-focused, fun-filled

Bossa isn’t just for the grown-ups. The restaurant boasts a well-equipped kids’ play area complete with PlayStations, games, and an air hockey table, all supervised by staff to give parents peace of mind. “We are a family restaurant at heart,” Filion emphasised. “Kids eat free on Wednesdays and Sundays, and we love supporting local schools and community initiatives.”

With its prime location on Maerua Mall’s new rooftop extension, Bossa offers more than just food. The deck delivers one of the best sunset views in the city, a perfect backdrop for after-work drinks or weekend celebrations.

As the newest addition to Maerua Mall’s growing entertainment offering, Bossa is poised to become a go-to destination for locals and visitors alike.

“It’s central, accessible, and the atmosphere is unlike anywhere else in the city,” said Van den Berg. “Whether you're here for a meal, a meeting, or a moment with friends, we’re here to make it special.”
