This week, the My.na cars team visited Mr Detail Valet & Cleaning Services in Windhoek, offering viewers an inside look at the growing demand for professional car detailing and maintenance. The team spoke to Mark Majiedt, the manager also known as the “Chief Shine Officer” Sylvie Fleermuys, the office administrator known as the “Detail Desk Diva,” and co-owner Nadine Liebenberg.


Mr Detail Valet & Cleaning Services has positioned itself as more than just a car wash, providing a range of services aimed at preserving both the appearance and long-term value of vehicles. According to Liebenberg, the business was established to address a gap in the market for high-quality, detail-oriented vehicle cleaning services.


“Taking care of your car is essential. Regular professional cleaning not only improves the driving experience but also helps maintain the vehicle’s value over time,” she said. She highlighted that Namibia’s dry climate can be particularly harsh on vehicle interiors, especially leather, which tends to dry out and crack without proper care. As a result, services such as leather conditioning have become increasingly popular among regular clients.


Another service gaining attention is the headlight restoration. Many vehicles on Namibian roads have faded or yellowed headlights due to prolonged sun exposure, which can reduce visibility at night. Mr Detail Valet & Cleaning Services offers restoration treatments designed to improve clarity and extend the lifespan of headlights at a lower cost than replacement.


Majiedt explained that the business operates largely on a drive-in basis, with many customers bringing in their vehicles without prior bookings. Services range from basic cleaning, including vacuuming and exterior washing to more intensive full-valet options, where seats are removed and interiors are thoroughly cleaned. “We focus on detail, From small problem areas to full deep cleans, we make sure that each vehicle gets the attention it needs,” Majiedt said. He also advised car owners against using household cleaning products such as dishwashing liquid on vehicles, noting that such products can damage the car’s protective coating.


At the administrative level, Fleermuys manages client intake and service coordination. Customers are required to complete a service form upon arrival, selecting from various packages depending on their needs. These range from a simple exterior wash, to a comprehensive valet service. Beyond its service offering, Mr Detail Valet & Cleaning Services has also adapted to environmental challenges. During recent drought periods, the business implemented a water recycling system to reduce water usage while continuing operations.


The company’s approach to staff management and workplace culture was also highlighted as a key strength, with a focus on maintaining a supportive and professional environment.
