Namibia guzzles less fuel

Total fuel consumption in Namibia decreased by 5% year-on-year (y/y) to 289.1 million litres in the past quarter. According to the Bank of Namibia (BoN), the decline was reflected in the volume of both diesel and petrol consumed, which decreased by 3.1% and 9.8%, respectively. The decline was partly a reflection of the number of vehicles sold, the BoN said. The drought also had some effect on this trend, as little was planted and subsequently harvested, leading to less demand for fuel than under normal circumstances, the central bank added.
