NYEF opens Lüderitz to oil and gas
The Namibia Youth Energy Forum (NYEF) is set to host the inaugural Lüderitz Oil and Gas Youth Open Day 2026 on 20 June in Lüderitz, bringing together learners, young professionals, small businesses and industry representatives in what organisers describe as a practical community-to-industry engagement platform.
The event, scheduled for the Lüderitz Waterfront Auditorium, will run from 08:00 to 15:00 and is free and open to the public. Up to 300 participants are expected to attend.
Held under the theme "Building Readiness. Creating Access.", the programme will cover career guidance, youth employability, supplier participation, procurement and local content, entrepreneurship and business formalisation, as well as broader stakeholder networking.
Lüderitz has grown in strategic importance as Namibia's offshore oil and gas sector expands, but the NYEF said many young people and local businesses in the coastal town continue to face limited access to industry engagement platforms and information.
NYEF CEO Fanuel Shinedima said the event was designed to close that gap.
"Lüderitz is becoming increasingly important within Namibia's energy future, and it is important that young people and local businesses are equipped with information, exposure and access to opportunity. This initiative is about creating practical engagement between industry and
community," he said.
The open day coincides with the NYEF's Youth Day commemorative activities. Participants from industry operators, service companies, financial institutions, recruitment specialists, training institutions and public sector entities operating within Namibia's energy sector are expected to take part.
The Lüderitz Oil and Gas Youth Open Day 2026 takes place on Saturday, 20 June 2026 at the Lüderitz Waterfront Auditorium. Entry is free.
