As part of its ongoing commitment to empowering entrepreneurs across Namibia, Old Mutual has officially launched the Old Mutual Technovation Hackathon. This nationwide challenge invites Namibia’s builders, designers, coders, and problem-solvers to turn real customer pain points into clean, testable digital journeys. The goal is to reimagine seamless, human-centred self-service solutions for Old Mutual customers and advisers.

Applications are open from 3 to 16 November 2025, giving participants from all regions the opportunity to present their innovative solutions. The competition features a total of N$100 000 in prize money, awarded in the form of Unit Trust investment accounts, with N$50 000 for first place, N$30 000 for second place, and N$20 000 for third place. This initiative offers participants the chance to win big, receive expert guidance to help turn ideas into simple, working prototypes that can be tested and improved, and make a real impact by tackling high-value customer journeys that influence Old Mutual’s digital transformation.

Teams of two to four with skills in design, product, data or AI, engineering, customer experience or research are encouraged to apply. New ideas or early-validation concepts are welcome. Participants will respond to a real Old Mutual digital problem statement, developing practical solutions that could integrate into the company’s service delivery systems. Shortlisted entries will engage in ideation workshops, mentorship sessions, and pitch presentations as part of the hackathon process.

“Through this Hackathon, we are creating a platform where Namibian innovators can showcase their creativity and help shape the future of customer experience at Old Mutual,” said Patricia Olivier, Chairperson of the Old Mutual Foundation.

“This initiative is more than a competition; it is an opportunity for young entrepreneurs to become part of a digital transformation journey that connects innovation with impact.”
