Pupkewitz Toyota launches Cycle to Save Rhino campaign

STAFF REPORTER
Pupkewitz Toyota in partnership Wilderness and Children in the Wilderness today announced the launch of its Save a Rhino campaign, a bold initiative aimed at raising awareness and

rallying collective action to protect Namibia’s iconic rhino population.

As custodians of one of the world’s most endangered species, Namibia stands at the frontline of conservation. With poaching and habitat loss posing growing threats, the Save a Rhino campaign seeks to highlight the urgent need for protection while inspiring communities, businesses, and individuals to take part in safeguarding these majestic animals for future generations.

The campaign will feature a series of activities, including: a community cycling event that raises funds and awareness.

The event will take place on a 2 kilometre route, with the course map shared during registration. Entry fees are N$200 for solo riders, N$800 for social teams of four, and N$5,000 for corporate teams of four, while children under 15 can join free of charge. Participants aged 16 and above must register online at www.raceday.events. Teams are flexible in composition, whether all-male, all-female, or mixed (two men and two women).

Entries are limited to 200 participants, ensuring an intimate yet exciting atmosphere. Safety is a top priority, with Nampol assisting in patrols, marshals positioned at critical points, and comprehensive event logistics in place. On the day, riders and supporters can look forward to a festive experience, featuring a beer tent, coffee bar, and food vendors. While there will be no

official race winners, every participant will be celebrated as a winner, with thrilling lucky draws adding to the fun. Number collection will take place on Thursday, 6 November, from 16h00 to 18h30.

The event kicks off on Friday, 7 November at 20h00, running through the night until Saturday, 8 November at 08h00. This unique night race will be hosted at the Pupkewitz Toyota showroom, corner of Independence Avenue and Harold Pupkewitz Street, Windhoek.

Through the Save a Rhino campaign, our goal is to unite communities, raise vital awareness, and inspire people to cycle as many laps as possible in support of protecting our rhinos. The public is invited to participate, donate, and show support through the campaign’s events and initiatives. Together, communities and businesses can make a lasting difference in wildlife conservation.
