Talking oil in Norway

The Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy, Modestus Amutse, is in Stavanger, Norway, to attend and participate in the week-long Offshore Northern Seas (ONS) Summit.

According to the ministry, the trip kicked off with a networking engagement on Sunday, bringing together high-level industry leaders for discussions and exchanges on oil, gas and energy security. The ministry said the engagements provide an opportunity for Namibia to benchmark international best practices, strengthen partnerships and engage with key players in the global energy sector.

The week-long programme features a range of activities focused on strengthening collaboration and sharing insights as Namibia advances its emerging oil and gas sector.

Amutse will take part in a round-table discussion today, entitled ‘Capital for Change: Unlocking Investments in the Global Energy Transition’. He will be joined by Narendra Taneja, chairman of the Independent Energy Policy Institute; Luz Stella Murgas, president of Naturgas; Douglas Peterson, senior adviser at DLP Advisors; Rashis Ali Abdallah, executive director of the African Energy Commission; and Kruthika Anastasia Bala, managing director of Resources Now. Xenia Wickett, director of Wickett Advisory, will moderate the discussion.

On Wednesday, 26 August 2026, Amutse will participate in a side event organised by Nordic Bridge Partner, titled ‘African Energy Resilience & Security Infrastructure: Foundation for Global Energy Reliability’. He will be joined by Saliu Amedua of Nordic Bridge Partner and Rashid Abdallah.

The minister is accompanied by senior ministry officials and high-level representatives from Namibia’s oil and gas and energy sectors.
