The event highlighted Namibia’s diversity, with the Herero, Basters, Damara and Ovambo groups performing individually.

The Herero group impressed the audience with their traditional attire, particularly the long dresses and distinctive headpieces worn by the girls. Their performance included a cultural dance and a role play depicting aspects of their history and traditions. The role play emphasised the importance of respecting elders and preserving culture.

The Basters delivered a well-organised performance combining music and acting. Their roleplay highlighted the importance of unity and cooperation within the community. They also performed a traditional dance reflecting their mixed cultural heritage and strong identity.

The Damara group brought energy to the stage with vibrant dancing and rhythmic clapping. Their performance was lively and engaging. They also included a short role play illustrating aspects of daily life and tradition, making their presentation both entertaining and educational.

The Ovambo group delivered an outstanding performance, focusing on traditional songs and dances often performed during celebrations. Their role play depicted family life and the importance of working together as a community. Their presentation encouraged audience participation, adding to the atmosphere.

Each group performed with confidence and pride, showcasing the richness of their cultures while respecting others. The combination of dance, role play and traditional attire made the celebration both entertaining and informative.

All in all, the Independence Day celebration at Academia Secondary School was a success.
