Children benefit from Omake charity drive in Otjiwarongo
In an effort to provide hope and stability to young Namibians, the Omake Charity Organisation hosted a successful community outreach last Saturday in Otjiwarongo, bringing together more than 60 vulnerable children for a day of fun and nutrition.
The event was specifically designed to provide a safe haven for children living in the Tsaraxa-aibes informal settlement.
Due to a lack of recreational facilities in the area, many local children spend their days on the streets.
Omake stepped in to fill this gap, offering a structured environment filled with entertainment and positive engagement.
The event was made possible through a generous donation from David United Class Academy, which provided decent, nutritious meals for all participants. For many of these children, the day offered more than just food; it provided a platform for emotional support.
"The day was filled with laughter, love and encouragement," an Omake representative shared. "We wanted to reassure these kids that we all care for their well-being and that they are not forgotten."
Community support
Founded in 2018, the Omake Charity Organisation has become a pillar of support for vulnerable members of the community.
The organisation has two main long-term goals: a permanent soup kitchen and a counselling centre.
While the recent event was a success, the organisation said the need in the community remains high.
Omake expressed gratitude to David United Class Academy for its partnership and is now calling on other businesses and individuals to support its various initiatives throughout the year.
By providing food, safety and a sense of belonging, Omake continues to prove that even in areas lacking infrastructure, community spirit can build a bridge to a better future.
