Crazy bag day: Clash of the giants
Etosha Secondary School was transformed into a stage of creativity and laughter on 14 March 2026 as learners took part in the much-anticipated Crazy Bag Day.
The event challenged students to leave their usual school bags at home and find the most creative alternative for carrying their books and supplies.
The aim of the day was not only to spark imagination but also to encourage self-expression among learners. Students rose to the challenge in spectacular fashion, arriving with a variety of unusual items that quickly caught the attention of their peers and teachers alike.
From suitcases and baby strollers to toolboxes and storage containers, the school grounds became a showcase of ingenuity. Some learners even used wheelbarrows and household items, while others opted to travel light and leave their bags behind altogether. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as students admired one another’s ideas and debated who would ultimately claim the title for the craziest bag.
The LRC also joined in the fun. Head girl Masiah Somses and head prefect Franlin Matheus, both Grade 11 learners, arrived carrying mudakos, earning laughter and applause from fellow students.
After careful consideration, Hama Kapenda was crowned the winner of Crazy Bag Day for her outstanding creativity.
Speaking after the event, she reflected on her experience and shared her favourite moment of the day. “I think seeing all the crazy ideas people came up with was hilarious, and the reactions to them were even funnier.”
