European Higher Education Fair opens doors for Namibian students
Namibian learners and students will have an opportunity to explore higher education options in Namibia, Europe and elsewhere in Africa at the annual European Higher Education Fair 2026 in Windhoek on Saturday (26 September).
The free event will take place at the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) and is hosted by the Delegation of the European Union to Namibia in partnership with the EU Youth Sounding Board (EU YSB).
Representatives from European and Namibian institutions will be available to discuss study opportunities, admission requirements and possible pathways for students considering further education.
The fair includes representatives from EU member states, local universities such as the University of Namibia (UNAM), Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) and Welwitchia University, as well as organisations including the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and Campus France.
Focus on Erasmus+
A focus of this year’s fair is Erasmus+, the European Union’s programme supporting education, training, youth and sport.
A panel discussion, titled “Application Guide: Erasmus+ Joint Masters, International Credit Mobility and the Intra-African Mobility Scheme”, will provide information on study options, eligibility requirements and application procedures.
The session is aimed particularly at bachelor’s students interested in postgraduate study and international academic opportunities.
EU ambassador to Namibia Ana Beatriz Martins said education and youth were central to the EU’s partnership with Namibia. “Education and youth are at the heart of the European Union’s partnership with Namibia. We want young Namibians to have more opportunities to learn, connect and gain the skills they need to shape their future,” she said.
“The Higher Education Fair brings these opportunities within reach and helps young Namibians see where their next step could take them.”
The EU Youth Sounding Board, a 25-member consultative body of people younger than 35, said the fair could help young people make informed decisions about their education and future careers.
“The European Higher Education Fair is an important opportunity for young people to explore different study pathways and make informed decisions about their education and future careers,” said Ndeshihafela Silas, EU YSB communication manager.
“We encourage learners and students to attend, ask questions and discover the opportunities available to them in Namibia, Europe and other African countries.”
