Growing through leadership

Being Head Girl of Duneside High School has been a journey that has shaped me in ways I never expected. Taking on this responsibility has taught me that leadership is not about having a title, but about serving others, setting a positive example and being willing to learn.


Throughout my time in this position, I have learnt the importance of patience, responsibility and understanding. I have learnt to listen before I speak, stay calm when faced with challenges and lead by example, even when things do not always go as planned. Every challenge has helped me become more confident, determined and better prepared to face difficult situations.


This journey has also shown me the importance of working with and supporting those around me. I am grateful to the learners, teachers and everyone who has contributed to making my experience as Head Girl so meaningful. The lessons I have learnt and the memories I have made will stay with me long after my time in this position comes to an end.


To every learner at Duneside High School, I encourage you to believe in yourself and your abilities. Do not be afraid to step outside your comfort zone, take on new challenges and discover what you are capable of achieving. Leadership can begin with something as simple as helping someone, speaking up when it matters or choosing to make a positive difference.


You do not need a title to make an impact. Sometimes, the smallest actions can make the biggest difference.
