LRC boasts new uniform design

At Academia S.S, being part of the LRC carries significant responsibility. The Learner Representative Council represents all learners in the school and works closely with teachers and management. What makes the experience even more distinctive is that each year the LRC designs its own official uniform.

When a new LRC is elected, members come together to plan and design their uniform. They share ideas, sketch designs and decide on styles that reflect confidence, leadership and unity. This ensures that each year’s uniform is unique, with no two designs exactly the same.

Although learners are encouraged to be creative, one important rule must always be followed: the uniform must include the school colours – green, yellow and grey. These colours represent Academia S.S and reflect school pride. Regardless of the design, they must remain clearly visible to show that the LRC represents the school.

The tradition helps learners develop important skills such as teamwork, decision-making and responsibility. It also demonstrates that leadership is built on trust. When learners see members of the LRC in their uniforms, they recognise them as leaders and representatives of the student body.

A similar principle applies to senior jackets. Each year, Grade 11 and Grade 12 learners design their own jackets to mark their final school years. They are allowed to add creative and personal touches, but the jackets must also include the official school colours of green, yellow and grey, ensuring a consistent school identity.

Allowing learners to design their own uniforms fosters pride and participation. It gives them the opportunity to express themselves while respecting school traditions. At Academia S.S, learners are encouraged to lead, create and represent the school with pride.
