Mindsinaction is broadening its educational offerings and will be coaching a First Lego League (FLL) robotics challenge team during the second semester.

First stands for ‘For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology’.

The programme introduces science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to children aged nine to 16 years through fun, exciting hands-on learning. Participants gain real-world problem-solving experiences through a guided, global robotics programme, helping today’s learners and teachers build a better future together.

Mindsinaction has already registered a team of 10 learners to take part in the 2022 FLL. They plan on taking on more learners, as a team can have about 10 learners.

Those interested should be between the ages of nine and 16. For additional information, Mindsinaction hosted an information session on Monday, 15 August, at the Mindsinaction STEAM Centre.

The First Lego League will take place in Pretoria, South Africa, and “the really cool thing about league is that all skill levels are welcomed and needed, technical or non-technical”.

Adult coaches guide learners as they gain skills and confidence in a supportive, inclusive environment.

The three divisions inspire youth to experiment and grow their critical thinking, coding and design skills through hands-on STEM learning and robotics.

“We think that your learner/you would make a valuable team member and would enjoy being part of this programme, which is free of charge,” Ndaudika Mulundileni, one of the Mindsinaction coaches, said. To register a team, contact Tanja Karp at tanja.karp@ttu.edu.
