Players shine at Newspaper Cup netball trials
Two learners from J.G. van der Wath Secondary School, Sarah-Lee Louw and Pahee Owoses, were selected to attend the Newspaper Cup netball trials, proudly representing the school. Both players demonstrated skill, determination and passion for the sport during the trials.
Their selection alone was a proud moment for the school, showcasing the strength of netball talent at J.G. van der Wath. Their achievement reflects not only their individual commitment but also the dedication of the school’s coaches and the support of their teammates, who continue to push one another to succeed.
Special congratulations go to Sarah-Lee, who was selected as a player for the Newspaper Cup team. She described this accomplishment as a surreal moment, saying she felt incredibly proud of herself for the hard work and dedication she put in.
She went on to say that she handles the pressure of the sport by staying focused on her goals and reminding herself why she started.
Pahee Owoses also deserves recognition for her outstanding effort and performance during the trials. Although she was not selected for the final team, her participation at such a competitive level is a testament to her talent and perseverance. She remains a strong and promising player with a bright future ahead in netball.
The school community is immensely proud of both learners and celebrates their achievements. Their journey serves as an inspiration to other aspiring athletes at the school, proving that hard work, discipline and belief in oneself can open doors to incredible opportunities.
