Senior learners turn up the school spirit
From 14 to 18 September 2026, the school’s Grade 12 and AS learners swapped their usual uniforms and routines for five days of costumes, creativity and school spirit during Spirit Week.
Each day brought a different theme, giving senior learners the chance to relax, express themselves and create memories as they approached the final stretch of their school year.
Five days, five themes
The week began with Mafia Monday, with learners dressing in black and taking on a sharp, mysterious mafia-inspired look. The matching outfits gave the first day a sense of unity and set the tone for the week.
Tuesday was Pimp Your Uniform, giving learners a chance to personalise their school uniforms with accessories and creative touches while still keeping the basic uniform intact.
Wednesday brought Career Day, with learners dressing for the careers they hope to pursue after school. The campus became a snapshot of their ambitions, with future engineers in hard hats and reflective clothing, aspiring doctors in scrubs and stethoscopes, and learners portraying lawyers in formal wear.
Thursday’s planned theme was set aside for the unveiling of the school’s laboratories, which became the main event of the day.
The week ended on Friday with Back to the 90s, as learners embraced retro-inspired clothing, denim, bold prints and old-school accessories. The theme brought a nostalgic touch to the school, even for learners who were born after the decade had ended.
An all-night celebration
The final day continued into Friday night with a stay-awake and bonfire event from 19:00 until 07:00 the following morning.
Learners gathered around the bonfire for cooking, dancing and games, including charades and Jenga. A PlayStation 5 provided another source of entertainment, with learners taking turns competing in FIFA matches, while others watched films as the night continued.
For the Grade 12 and AS learners, Spirit Week offered more than an opportunity to dress up. It provided a break from the pressures of school, allowed learners to express their personalities and gave the senior grades a chance to spend time together before the final demands of the academic year take over.
It was, in many ways, a week about making the most of school life while there is still time to do so.
