Teen author launches second book and youth foundation
Young people are not waiting for their turn to make a difference. They are stepping forward, finding their voices and creating opportunities for others to follow.
That spirit was on display at the #BeFree Youth Campus during the launch of 14-year-old author Jobina Shovaleka’s second book, We Will Always Remember That One Girl Named Lilly, and her newly established Jobina Shovaleka Foundation.
The event was graced by Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare, who delivered the keynote address, as well as former First Lady Monica Geingos.
Ngurare praised Jobina’s achievements, saying young people should pursue their ambitions and develop their natural talents. He also commended her maturity and leadership, highlighting her decision to establish a charitable foundation and appoint a board of trustees at such a young age.
Geingos emphasised the importance of young people discovering and developing their abilities. She praised Jobina for using her achievements to create opportunities for other children to explore reading, writing and creative expression.
Through her books and non-profit foundation, Jobina hopes to encourage a love of literature across Namibia and inspire more young people to tell their own stories. Her journey shows how young people can turn their passions into something that benefits others, proving that age need not be a barrier to making a difference.
