Unam concludes first round of 2026 graduations
The University of Namibia (Unam) has completed its first round of the 2026 graduation season.
Spanning from early April to the final ceremonies in Windhoek last week, the season reflected the university’s sustained academic growth.
This year, the university awarded 63 master’s degrees and 15 doctorate degrees and increased the proportion of men graduates from 31% to 35.4%, reflecting a gradual shift in gender balance.
While officiating at Wednesday's Unam graduation ceremony, guest speaker President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah highlighted the urgency of proper training.
"The future of our country lies in the hands of our young people, who must be properly trained and educated to address issues of inequality and unemployment effectively," she said.
In a congratulatory message for the Class of 2025, vice chancellor Kenneth Matengu advised the graduates to consider pathways in employment, enterprise or public service, describing the world they are entering as dynamic, demanding and full of possibilities.
