The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation has awarded fellowships to outstanding Namibian students.

The fellowships, which cover all university-related expenditure and include professional mentorship and entrepreneurial and personal leadership development programmes, were awarded on Friday, 27 January, at StArt gallery.

“Learning, innovation and entrepreneurship are the engines that drive progress and transform lives, empowering us to continuously evolve and reach new heights,” Gavin Frey, the foundation’s regional head, said.

According to him, the foundation is part of the global Allan and Gill Gray Philanthropies, which invests into a long-term legacy of greatness by nurturing individuals who will become high-impact, responsible entrepreneurs.

Fellowship recipients were subjected to a rigorous three-month selection process, designed to uncover not only academically talented individuals but also those who showcase entrepreneurial flair. The foundation's contribution to Namibia's national development plan is to expose fellowship recipients to academic and economic opportunities, and fund new business enterprises launched by fellows.
