INTERVIEW | Elizabeth Elias | client services consultant As a client services consultant at Alex Forbes, Elizabeth Ndapewa Elias is at the forefront of transforming how Namibians understand and approach retirement planning. Since joining the company in January 2024, she has quickly become a vital presence, empowering clients through education, empathy and financial clarity.
“My journey at Alex Forbes has been incredible so far,” she said recently.
“The culture is unique, the colleagues are fantastic and the work we do with clients is truly meaningful.”
Her day-to-day responsibilities centre around hosting financial wellness sessions, leading retirement readiness seminars and coordinating impact days – interactive outreach events held at client offices where employees can seek personalised guidance on pension and financial planning.
“One of the most rewarding parts of my job is educating clients about things they didn’t know they needed to know,” she said. “Seeing that moment of understanding, the relief and confidence it brings, is what drives me,” Elias added.
Her role also involves working closely with HR departments across various organisations to promote holistic financial planning.
She ensures that retirement benefits are not only explained clearly but are also aligned with clients’ long-term goals.
“It’s all about building trust and showing people that financial well-being is achievable with the right knowledge and support.”
A purpose-driven job
With a solid academic foundation, holding an honours degree in business management from the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) and pursuing a master’s in development finance at the University of Namibia (UNAM), Elias combines technical understanding with heartfelt communication.
Her prior experience at Old Mutual, where she worked in client services within the pension fund space, laid the groundwork for her current success.
Though working in the financial services field wasn’t planned, she finds it filled with purpose.
“I didn’t specifically study for this career, but I’ve always had a passion for helping people. This role allows me to do just that every single day,” she noted.
Outside of work, Elias enjoys reading, cooking, gardening and travelling.
Her advice to young professionals: “Be patient, keep learning, and master the art of listening. People don’t just want facts; they want to be understood.” Be patient, keep learning, and master the art of listening.Elizabeth Elias
