Within the bustling beauty industry of Windhoek, few stories are as inspiring as that of Aune Holly Kaunapawa Nanghema, a talented nail technician, make-up and wig artist whose path has been as transformative as the work she creates.

Currently working at Envee Beauty, Nanghema has quickly become a rising star, blending creativity, skill and an unshakable drive that turns personal hardship into artistic triumph.

Nanghema’s entry into the beauty industry was not straightforward. In August 2022, she faced the heartbreak of her life, a period that plunged her into depression.

Yet, she says it was through this pain that her passion for beauty emerged.

Encouraged by her mother, who provided a mini nail-cutting machine and guided her through daily tutorials, Nanghema began experimenting with nails.

It wasn’t long before she discovered a love for make-up, setting her on the road that would eventually define her career.

By December 2022, she was renting a table at a salon in Wanaheda, patiently waiting for clients. Weeks later, her dedication paid off as her talent began to gain recognition, marking the start of a promising beauty industry career.

In 2023, Nanghema balanced full-time studies at the University of Namibia with her burgeoning passion. She also worked as a Yango promoter to fund her nail and make-up kit.

Every penny she earned was reinvested into her craft, a testament to her dedication and determination.

Nanghema emphasises that her creativity grew from a place of personal rebound, turning emotional pain into art that empowers others.

Inspiration and passion

Her work is heavily inspired by Envee Beauty, whose meticulous artistry serves as both guidance and motivation.

Under her mentorship, Nanghema honed her skills in make-up application, hair styling, and client consultation, learning to create looks that are as precise as they are transformative. She also leverages social media and strategic partnerships with influencers to showcase her craft, extending her reach beyond the salon chair.

Empowering others

For Nanghema, beauty is more than aesthetics; it is empowerment.

Each client is treated as a canvas, a chance to boost confidence and allow individuals to express themselves fully.

Her goal is to make women feel confident, heard and ready to conquer the world.

She hopes to collaborate with photographers like DipPhotos and Goyit Photography, whose work highlights the intricate details and creativity she pours into each look.

Nanghema is more than a make-up and nail artist; she is a mover and shaker in Namibia’s beauty scene.
