The echoes of motivation and inspiration reverberated through the Outjo Secondary School hall as learners from various institutions converged at the career fair. The event - which featured a host of esteemed institutions like the University of Namibia (Unam), the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), the Namibian Maritime and Fisheries Institute (Namfi), the Namibian College of Open Learning (Namcol), Welwitchia University and many more - was a resounding success, leaving an indelible mark on young minds.

A platform for aspiration

The career fair was more than just an event; it was a platform for dreams and aspirations to take flight. It brought together learners from diverse backgrounds, each with unique talents and ambitions. The participating institutions, each a bastion of education and skill development, offered a glimpse into the myriad of opportunities awaiting these young minds.

Kantema-Gaomas unleashed potential beyond academics

Emma Kantema-Gaomas, the deputy minister of youth, sports, and national service, stood at the forefront of this event, igniting sparks of hope and inspiration. She addressed the learners with a message that transcended academic excellence.

Not all learners are academically gifted, she emphasised, and those with a passion for sports and handiwork need not despair. She assured learners that the sports ministry has programmes specially designed to accommodate such talents.

Her words carried the powerful message that dreams and aspirations can be pursued in various ways, and no door should remain closed to the youth of Namibia.

Paving the way for bright futures

The presence of Angeline Jantze, the regional director of education, was particularly significant, as it marked her year of retirement from the position. Her words of encouragement resonated with a sense of personal dedication to the future of the Kunene Region. She shared her fervent wish for more learners from the region to reach greater heights and become intellectuals and dream achievers.

She highlighted the vital role of institutions of higher learning in shaping these young minds for success.

A path forward

The career fair was a testament to the power of collaboration and community. It brought together educational institutions, government representatives, and, most importantly, the learners themselves to chart a path toward a brighter future. The shared message was clear: Regardless of one's academic strengths, there are opportunities for all to flourish in the diverse landscape of career choices.

The success of this event reminds us that encouragement and support are vital components of nurturing the dreams of our youth. The wisdom and experience shared by Kantema-Gaomas and Jantze served as a beacon of guidance for the learners, inspiring them to explore various avenues and follow their passions.

As these young minds move forward in their educational journeys, the career fair will undoubtedly remain a source of inspiration and empowerment, guiding them toward a future filled with potential and achievement.
