Athletes shine at inter-school competition
With a large crowd cheering from the sidelines, the atmosphere was electric as athletes from Dr Lemmer High School, M & K Gertze High School, /Anes Secondary School, and Rehoboth High School took to the field.
Dr Lemmer claimed both the junior and senior boys’ victor titles. Keanu Fielding, competing in the junior category, finished first in the 100m and third in the 200m. In the senior division, Joshlin Hansen won the 400m while also securing second place in the 100m and third place in the 200m.
Sprint events proved to be a particular strength for the school. The u/15 and u/17 boys both won their 100m races, while the u/15 girls also secured victory in their sprint event.
In the field events, Elijah Kisting cleared 1.75m in the u/17 high jump, narrowly missing a higher mark. Raynold Witbeen recorded a distance of 12.65m in the triple jump, while Samuel Immanuel reached 6.1m in the long jump.
On the track, Marilee Abrahams delivered one of the standout performances of the day, winning both the u/17 800m and 1500m races.
Another notable moment came when Tyrell Loxton set a new school record in the u/17 200m event.
School representatives said the results reflect both individual talent and collective effort, with athletes demonstrating determination and discipline throughout the competition.
