Only a selected few have the talent to sing, some can decipher intricate math equations, others can solve a Rubik’s cube in seconds and then you find the dancing masters. Swakopmund Secondary school held their 2nd “dance or die” show on the 7th June 2019.

The show was aimed at promoting leadership skills, talent and discipline among the youth. The LRCs of Swakopmund Secondary School put a lot of hard work, teamwork and time in order to make it a huge success. The competition was open to the public and various dancing groups showcased their talent. The theme of the show was “chess tot laat” a rather popular phrase among the youth. Mawiliez, Chiza young jives, YKK, Chiza trompies, Tak takz finest, OKKz, Cota finest, FMT, Dynamics and our very favorite Elementrix (Wakanda Movement) were the groups who set out to entertain the packed crowd with different dancing moves and songs all with one goal in mind to win the 1st prize.

According to the vice-chairperson of SSS Pedro EKandjo he faced many trials and tribulations. “The biggest challenge was getting the groups together, some dancers claimed they were allegedly robbed when the results were announced and others were jovial as they can now learn from their mistakes.”

One of the performers of the evening Spaiker Amakali from the Elementrix said that “the competition was tough and we did not practice, so we did not showcase the best of our abilities.”

The aim of the competition was winners take all and in the end the Mawiliez were victorious.
