Day of the Namibian Child

The Day of the Namibian Child is celebrated annually on 28 September. The Zone spoke to learners from Orban Primary School and asked them why they are proudly Namibian.

I really love my country. Namibia allows us to be free and there are many opportunities for us, especially the young people. There are opportunities such as education and many other rights.

My country provides us with quality education, ensures that our rights are respected and many more. I love my country and I am very proud to be a Namibian child.

I love Namibia so much because it provides free education for us and informs us about our rights, so they are not violated. I am very proud to be Namibian and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

It is a great honour to be Namibian. In the country, you have the freedom to stand out and represent yourself as a proud member of the nation. Self-expression is a respected right in my country.

I would love to play for the national team one day. I want to show people out there that Namibia is a country with lots of talent and that we are a nation of determined people. Those characteristics are some of the reasons why I am a proud Namibian.

The Namibian Constitution protects me as a child and gives me the opportunity to be myself and also makes provision for me to go to school every day. I am grateful for the opportunities given to me as a Namibian child.

I am a proud Namibian child, because I love my beautiful country. There are so many beautiful places to visit, which can only be found in my country, and that is something special. We also get free education in my country.

I look up to the Namibian national rugby team and I would want to play for them one day. It is such an honour to represent the country and the team always makes me so proud.

I love my rugby team, the Welwitschias, and my favourite player is Chad Plato. I aspire to have great confidence and to make my country proud like they do. The rugby team makes me proud of my country.

Making it to the Rugby World Cup is a big accomplishment. I am proud that my national team is representing us well in Japan. One day I would like to represent my country internationally, as well.
