Extraordinary is contagious
Sune van Rooyen and Princess ItopeBesides sports, Jan Mohr Secondary School has learners going the extra mile on extraordinary.
Rivaldo Kavanga, current grade 11 learner at Jan Mohr Secondary School, joined the politics at the age of 17. He felt that it was a great opportunity for him to represent the youth.
He says; “Being a natural leader, I knew this was the opportunity to bring massive change. Regardless of this position, we are all equal and have the same opportunities as a normal child.”
His goal in the children’s parliament as The Chairperson of the Health Committee is to make schools 100% accessible for children facing physical disabilities. He also says that being a leader, he wants to bring change to the youth and country and can see himself as a future politician.
Furthermore, Rivaldo is elected as a SRC (Senior Representative Council) at Jan Mohr Secondary School.
Jo-dee Van der Byl, grade 12 learner, was first the captain of the girl’s rugby team until the beginning of the year. She and her friend Valdo-Dean Gertze established The Happy Club in the school and it made progress. She is a dancer of Dance Nheals as well as a poet. She has performances wherever she gets to showcase her talent.
Jo-dee is also an ambassador of Alzheimer Dementia Namibia, currently working with Safe Space UNAM.
Amir Nauyoma and Justice Kitsi, current grade 11 learners at Jan Mohr Secondary School, is known for being artists and producing music and not only do they perform at schools and different places, but their song was released on a Radio Station. They are currently balancing school and music, but their goal is to become artists.
Francineth Bauleth, grade 11, and Nguvitjita Movirongo, grade 8, are both authors and they recently published their own books. Francineth Bauleth loves to express herself through storytelling and immersing herself in creating a world for herself, so writing comes naturally to her.
She published her book “You Promised” on Wattpad. She is also part of Jan Mohr’s newspaper editorial team and she writes for Afterbreak Magazine. Nguvitjita Movirongo published Olufuko Princess and received N$1000 from FNB Namibia.
