Here comes Miss Duinesig

It’s that time of the year whereby Duinesig High School is hosting their most prestigious event, Miss Duinesig 2020. The beauty pageant will be held at the Walvis Bay Community Hall on the 28th of February 2020. There are 15 finalists that will be taking part in the pageant.

Miss Duinesig has always been an event to look forward to as the organizers promise to bring nothing but the best. Miss Eliakim, head organizer and also a teacher at Duinesig High School says that it will be an event filled with excitement as she and her team promise to bring out the best there is to offer. The theme this year is ‘casino’ [LAS VEGAS] because it is old school, different and exciting. There are 14 finalists namely Ndinelao, Kafute, Naemi, Secilia, Liisa, Victoria, Nona, Kajulie, Vennely, Josephina, Hambeleleni, Rejoice, Matjiiwa and Lydia and unfortunately boys did not want to take part but they were given the platform to join the pageant. The 14 girls are undergoing training from different modeling coaches to prepare themselves for the show. Kafute Nekongo, a finalist says that she is given a platform to show off her abilities and winning the Miss Duinesig will serve as an inspiration to all young women out there. Vennely Kambonde, who is a newbee to the modeling world says that to her it’s all about having fun with new experiences and hopes to take the Miss Duinesig title.

The organizers also held a car wash to promote, advertise and raise funds for the event, which was held on the first of February. The finalists went to a local car wash in Kabeljou Street, Kuisebmondand washed cars for money. Keneilwe Garoes, the organizer says that the word was spread about Miss Duinesig and hopes a lot of people shows up for the show. The event is also sponsored by The Raft, Signiture, Wimpy and Flower Box respectively. There will also be performances but unfortunately that information is confidential as it is said to be a surprise.

Naomi Haikera a young stylist and photographer says that the show aims to empower and enforce self-esteem in young people since it’s all about beauty and brains.
