On the 3rd of February, Amazing Kids Private School and Academy hosted their annual Interhouse athletics event. Pupils and teachers were both bursting with curiosity, trying to know which house team would win the competition. The event commenced and it was opened by a word of prayer from the principal. Following the official part, the main event began with 1500 m for all age groups and it was a difficult race for the participating girls but it was a great one for the audience and the cheer leaders.
The runners from the Leopards, the current champions, struggled and suffered an emotional defeat in the 1500 m race. A runner from Cheetahs proved that like the fastest mammal on land which they were named after, that they were the fastest in the race coming first. The Lions athlete roared into the third place whilst the Cheetahs runners secured both first and second places.
With the boys all age group 1500 m race, the boys took off where the girls left off. But this time it was different. The Lions and the Leopards were neck and neck during the race, when one Lion runner, Sol, took on the most aggressive Leopard, Frans. It all came to an end when the former king of the jungle won the race.
The Lions dominated at the shot put on the boys’ side but they were outshone by the Leopards at the girls’ side. The king of the jungle Leopards started dominating at the javelin where both the girls and boys side took the lead.
It was now a nail biting moment when the Lions were leading the Leopards by four points at this stage. The Cheetahs started speeding up but could not catch the others. The last races being over the short distances were going to be decisive races for the win. Nevertheless, the Leopards stayed on track when they overtook the lead by six points and now it was a difficult time for both the Lions and the Cheetahs to catch up.
According to the scoreboard it was obvious that who was going to be the 2017 winners. Leopards proved to be the king of the jungle, with the Lions coming second and the Cheetahs coming third. The event began and ended on a high note because of the wonders that were done by the Leopards and above all God almighty made the event possible.
