Most fairest of them all

The bling bling of the flashing lights, followed by the eyes widening, the hand rushing to the mouth in surprise and then a perfect smile slipping into place, as the crown is placed upon her head, and yet another young lady is crowned the most fairest of them all.
The much anticipated event of Miss Westside was first hosted in 2011, where only the Grade 11 and 12 girls could participate. On the evening of 15 June, the school hall was fully packed with teachers, parents and pupils from various schools.
We also had a few photographers who made sure our models had great captured moments.
Young ladies, all in different sizes and heights, strutted their stuff on the stage and they welcome us with a special dance routine they had practised for.
At first the girls modelled in their creative wear. They designed their pieces themselves by using recycled materials such as plastic. One by one the girls walked on the stage, as the MC of the night introduced them. Afterwards they changed into their casual wear. One could tell that most of them were trend setters, drama queens and fashionistas.
In between we were entertained by a few dancing groups as well as young artists and rappers such as Kenny K, Kevo and Jordan.
After a short break, the girls quickly rushed backstage and changes into their evening gowns.
The gentlemen who accompanied the young ladies rocked the stage and had all the girls shouting at the top of their lungs.
Ten finalists were chosen and were asked questions that added up to their points as Miss Westside High.
Finally, the moment we’ve all been waiting for, the moment of finding out who will be crowned Miss WHS 2017.
Everyone sat at the halfway on their seats, anxiously waiting for the MC to announce who takes home the crown. Miss Personality Jamilla Uiras , Jada van Wyk was crowned as Miss Photogenic, 2nd princess was Fabiola and Dently Areses was crowned as 1st princess. With her elegance, her walk, her confidence as well as the way she addressed her question Tulimeke Ngishikungu was crowned as Miss Westside High School 2017.
I have a short interview with Tulimeke, and here is what she had to say:
Julietta: Why did you decide to enter Miss WHS?
Tulimeke: I entered the competition because this is my last year at school and I love modelling because it’s a lot of fun and it boosts my self-esteem and confidence.
Julietta: Are there any changes you’d like to at the school as Miss WHS?
Tulimeke: Anything that is required of me, I’ll gladly do. Whether it be cleaning toilets or representing my school at an event
Julietta: Are you a fashionista or a drama queen?
Tulimeke: Definitely a drama queen
Julietta: What is your aspiration in life?
To grow spiritually strong and do it in a manner that is easy for me to understand and in the process to pull more people into the life of a believer of Christ. Simply put; to help everyone around me in any way I can.
Jullieta: You and your friends are going out. You’ve been waiting for hours and finally she comes out dressed as a ‘clown’. What’s your reaction and how would you tell her to change her outfit?
Tulimeke: I’ll laugh and ask her if she’s seriously going to war that. If she replies yes, I’ll back her up. If no, I will convince her to change into something by telling her that the ‘clown’ outfit will cover up all of her beauty.
