Namib Marimba’s high pitch
Josephina ShipopyeniKuisebmond Secondary School’s marimba crew known as the Namib Marimbas travelled overseas to Switzerland on the 29th of April 2019. The Namib Marimbas are known for their soothing sounds and overwhelming performances and always manages to steal the attention of the crowd completely. The trip to Switzerland was a dream come true and was by far their greatest achievements. “Performing in Switzerland was a blast,” said a fellow crew member.
The trip which lasted for 17 amazing days was exciting and within that period they had the opportunity to perform at breathtaking places. Their first performance was at Tropen Haus where they left the crowd wanting more of their sweet, calming music. For many of them it was nerve wrecking as it was their first time but for some it was just another spectacular trip. After the performance at Tropen Haus, they then took on to perform in Bern, Frutig and Lutzen. Throughout their performances, they were led by their manager Mr. Gerson “Dollar” Mwatile.
After a week of just performances, they now had the opportunity to explore the snow. Having fun in the snow was thrilling and they all wish to travel back once more. Speaking of food, the word amazing keeps coming up.
Everyone was sad when the time came to travel back home. No one wanted to wave goodbye to Switzerland but all good things come to an end .In their hearts they just couldn’t wait to come home and tell their friends and families about the extraordinary, memorable trip they had. They couldn’t hide the excitement of being back home with their families when they landed on Hosea Kutako Airport. “The experience was magnificent, they all welcomed us with open arms,” Uriah Hartly.
All of them came back with souvenirs, from the smallest to the largest they could find and not to mention the candy! Everyone describes the trip as beyond expected, the services provided plus the positive comments they got from the people just made the trip even more exceptional.
