New curriculum vs old curriculum
The Education Fraternity and stake holders have different views and opinions about the new and old Curriculum. The editorial team made it its priority to go around the school and this is what some teachers and learners at our Coastal High had to say.Veronica Simon 11B
I personally feel that the old curriculum is better than the new curriculum, because more basic work is covered in the old curriculum. The new curriculum is packed with more and difficult content. Teachers and learners are struggling to cope and they rush to finish the syllabus in a very short time.

New curriculum is better, because it introduced pre-vocational subjects which basically have to do with practical. Not all the learners are good academically some of them learn faster by seeing and doing which means skill related subjects are easier to them. I feel this will advantage many learners because they can score satisfactory grades in their practical subjects.

I feel the new curriculum is better than the old curriculum, because it has a huge advantage to us due to the fact that it gives us the opportunity to finish school early in grade 11. With the pre- vocational subjects at our school we are also in a better position to choose our career according to our skills and interest in those subjects.

I prefer the Old curriculum; at our school we will be the last intake of the old curriculum as grade 12’. Now we will be treated and organizing farewell together with grade 11 of the new curriculum because some of them if not most of them will be leaving school also in the same year as I.
Mrs. Neshila [H.O.D]
I feel both are fine, because the old curriculum was once upon a time a new one and it also had its own challenges. So the best way is to pin point the challenges of the new curriculum and adapt to them.

I never experienced the new curriculum, but I prefer the new one because the learners get to gain knowledge at an early age. It has an advantage to them since prevocational subjects are offered to them.
Jordan Kustaa grade 10
Content is more clear and easier, it gives us a clear picture and views to choose our careers at an earlier stage. This is because our technical and practical subjects gives us more options.
Delpiero Gaseb grade 10
In Grade 10 its only few subjects which are being offered, 6 to be exact. This situation helps us to be more focused on the subjects we are good at especially our Practical subjects. We don’t need to go all the way to grade 12. With a grade 11 Certificate you go directly into a career.
Titus Simon Grade 10
There is too much content in the New Curriculum. And it is more advanced too. We see it that in the lower grades leaners are failing because the standard OF GRADING is also high. In the past a learner could pass with two G’s but now the F and the G is no more it is in most cases to get 40% and Above.
Mr. Ngola
The new curriculum is good, because in the new curriculum there is an introduction of Technical Subjects which address the learner’s variety of needs. Another thing about the new curriculum is the mother tongue. The children at the primary school are encouraged to choose their mother tongue which is important for their life -long learning.
