The LOL factor
Ayeshe ElagoA good sense of humour can help you see the lighter side of life.
When was the last time you had a good laugh, the kind that takes you to the edge of sanity, tears streaming down your face, your lungs gasping for air? IT seems there's always something to worry about so much so that in some crews, laughing is almost taboo, seen as an irresponsible, juvenile act which no self-respecting person should indulge.
Yet were are all attracted to people who, with a charming chuckle and mischievous glint, make us laugh with their wacky views. No matter how serious the situation, these people always seem to see the lighter side of things. Here are 6 ways to have a good sense of humour.
1. Laugh at yourself
The basis of having a good sense of humour is being able to laugh at yourself. Learn to laugh at what you do without laughing at who you are. Only when you see their ridiculous in yourself will you able to see the ridiculous in other people and situation.
2.Laugh about School
Being able to laugh about school and everything it concerns is probably one of the most difficult things to do. This is not the same as laughing at school, which we regularly do with our classmates. If you're able to laugh about school it means you're tickled silly by your inability to get to class on time, and seeing the funny side of your teacher demanding you arrive on time - or else.
3. Laugh at your friends
The people we spend the most time with have a large influence on our sense of homour, and not just because of the jokes they tell. Being able to laugh at our friends without fear of retaliation helps us share their imperfections with them in a loving way without criticizing them. Laughing about your friends habits is a much better way of getting your feelings about their flaws off your chest and out of your hair than nagging them about it.
4. Laugh at your childhood
If you're one of the majority of teens who believe you've had a tough life, it's no wonder you're having trouble laughing. Research shows that people who hold onto the troubles instead of joys of their past find it difficult to cope with life as adults. “What's the solution?” Remember the good times and forget the bad. Start looking at your childhood for what it is: a time of growing, mistakes and imperfection- like everyone else's.
