Ultimate boxing match leaves many knocked out
Oletu KafulaBoxers left the crowd chanting at the top of their voices and even those at the back seats claim to have felt the climax of every punch. This amateur interschool boxing event was organised by the 2017/2018 LRCs, with the assistance of The Dome and a helping hand from the Swakopmund Junior Town Council. Most of the schools participated as there were 8 fights for the night.
Special appearances were made by Danny Boy, a Namibian Pro Boxer. Danny Boy along with boxing voice and fitness coach Paracialsis Naubeb. He was the head trainer for all the students that took part in the boxing event.
It was no doubt a great success with majority of the fights going a distance with two knockouts and no disqualifications. The main event fighters, Daniel Seidler and Rashad Isaacs, were both in tears after the last bell. They clarify by saying that it was not because they got hurt but because of what they achieved together.
The LRCs state that the main aim of the event was to promote interschool sports, to unite athletes and schools as well as for them all to take part in one united sports culture. Cedric Abrahams was also a boxer at the event and says that if he was not as focused as he is on his school work, he would have taken boxing as a hobby. He says," I am happy that I decided to expose myself into the field of boxing and I will surely look into it after I finish my schooling."
