VOX POP:

As we reach the end of the year we asked a few of the My Zone employees what their focus areas are.
Monque Adams
Monique Adams

“My focus area at My Zone is matric farewells, back-to-school booklets, the ‘Careers Bistro’ show, newspaper coordinator of The Zone publication and a writer for The Zone as well. My focus area is schools and all things related to youth news.”

Leandrea Louw

“I started with the My Zone brand when it was still a baby in 2015, where I coordinated the Erongo schools. Six years later, I'm an all-rounder. Still involved with the school newspaper project and tackling anything school-related for Zone, specifically in the Walvis Bay area.”

Jeanette Diergaardt

“I get to explore all the beats in our two publications, My Zone and Careers. I am slowly but surely trying to focus more on the hard news and newsworthy stories for both publications. The online shows have taken up most of my time at My Zone but I see myself moving into the humanitarian field of print and digital media. Telling the stories of the community and of the marginalised people of the country. Stories of inspiration and of hope.”

Michelline Nawatises

My focus area in the My Zone team is the corporate supplement known as Careers Hub, where we feature all things related to careers. whether that’s the big corporate companies or the local start-ups. In the same breath I am also involved in the My Zone shows.

Wetumwene Shikage

I am the social media coordinator and the coordinator of the ‘Ohole So Nice’ and ‘Generation C’ shows for My Zone. I am responsible for getting the team’s content for the weekly Careers Hub publication. I make sure to get all content for the two shows I coordinate. I direct and produce shows for My Zone as well. When time comes, I am responsible for streaming live matric farewells.

Desiree Gases

“My focus area in My Zone is contributing to the two publications weekly and coordinating the university section of The Zone, where I reach out to Namibian students studying all over the world and publish their unique experiences. I also coordinate a panel discussion also known as ‘The Social Leak’ and I’m the host of the speed-dating show known as ‘Ohole so Nice’.”
