Bucks Buccaneers aim for maximum points
Football
Bucks Buccaneers coach Ronnie Kanalelo said his team is determined to collect maximum points this weekend as they head north for their Namibia Premier Football League (NPFL) double-header in Grootfontein. The Buccaneers will take on Rundu Chiefs and Julinho Sporting away from home, hoping to build on their promising start to the season. Kanalelo’s men have shown encouraging form so far, having collected four points from their last two outings.
Despite their confidence, the experienced tactician remains wary of the two sides awaiting them in the north.
“We did better last weekend, but we know we’ll be facing different opponents,” said Kanalelo. “We’re a team that likes to express ourselves, and that won’t change. Our opponents like to play long balls, but that won’t stop us from sticking to our own style and working hard to get the points.”
Bucks Buccaneers currently sit sixth on the log after three matches, winning once and drawing twice. Julinho, meanwhile, are yet to collect a single point this season and find themselves 14th after losing both their games. Rundu Chiefs are just above them in 13th place, having picked up only one point from two fixtures.
“We won’t take these two teams lightly, even though they haven’t won yet,” Kanalelo added. “Travelling to Grootfontein and returning with points in the bag would be a huge plus for us. It’s still early in the season, but we want to collect as many points as possible while building momentum.”
Elsewhere in the NPFL, Tigers will today face Unam FC at the Independence Stadium. Defending champions African Stars travel to Otjiwarongo for back-to-back clashes against Mighty Gunners and Life Fighters, while coastal rivals Blue Waters and Eleven Arrows head north to face Eshoke Chula Chula and KK Palace, respectively.
