Chase brothers dominate RMB Off-Road Triathlon

The challenging annual RMB Off-road triathlon at Oanob Dam near Rehoboth saw the pre-race favourite and upcoming talent Nathan Chase win the overall men’s race over the enduro distance on Sunday morning.Chase completed the 1.1 km swim, 28 km cycle and 8.4 km run in one hour 55 minutes 13 seconds.
The 17-year-old silver medallist at the XTerra world championship in Italy last month was followed in second place by veteran Mark Spath (2:21:08), with Jan-Louis Mostert third over the finish line in 2:32:53.
There were no female entries for the enduro distance.
Sprint distances
The Sprint event was contested over 600 m swim, 14 km cycle and 4.2 km run. Nathan’s younger brother Micah Chase (14) stormed to a solid win in 1 hour 04 minutes 46 seconds, with second place claimed by Finn Middleton (1:09:10) ahead of James Langford just 40 seconds later. All three these prospects are in the boys U16 age group.
The female Sprint winner Lillian Kibble (1:21:47) also won the girls U16 age category. Ilona Sickel (veteran) completed the course in 1:24:30, staying ahead of the second U16 contestant Kyra Marshall (1:30:18).
Super Sprint (300 m swim, 5.7 km cycle, 2.5 km run)
Male top three: 1 Tristan Buttner (40:44); 2 Marcel Diehl (40:45); 3 Henry Muschler (42:14), who are all 15 or younger.
Female top three: 1 Sofia Glen-Spyron (41:45; 15 and under), 2 Jana Klinger (44:02; female open); 3 Nadine le Roux (48:02; 15 and under).
