Fouché honoured at WHS Old Boys' awards

First-team captain Shaun Fouché led the way to be named cricketer of the year as ATG WHS Old Boys Cricket Club held its year-end function and awards for the 2025-2026 season recently.

WHS Old Boys won the Cricket Namibia 50-over premier league final by 33 runs in March, after posting 307/7 and restricting Wanderers to 274/9. The player of the match was Gerhard Erasmus, who scored 77 runs off 81 balls, with four fours and five sixes.

WHS Old Boys winning team consisted of Malan Kruger (wicketkeeper), Zacheo Janse van Vuuren, Shaun Fouché (captain), Gerhard Erasmus, Louren Steenkamp, Dylan Leicher, Juma Miyaji, Adriaan Coetzee, Jack Brassell, Jandré de Jager and Morkel Malan.

Statistically, Fouché finished the 50-over premier league in second place on the overall individual player rankings, with 734 points which was just a whisker behind WP Myburgh of United.

Fouché’s 267 runs in seven innings placed him fifth of the top-scoring batsmen in the league (behind his team mate Malan Kruger in top spot on 403 runs in six innings). The captain also took ten wickets, a total that was only surpassed by his club mates Adriaan Coetzee (first with 13 wickets) and Juma Miyaji (second with 11 wickets).

Last November the team in blue also clinched the Cricket Namibia T20 premier league final against the same opponent, overtaking Wanderers’ total of 142/8 to win by four wickets with the final ball of the match. The youngster Adriaan Coetzee was named as player of the match after scoring 76 runs off 54 balls (6x4 4x6), and taking two wickets for 17 runs in four overs.
