Over 30 goals were scored in the Namibian Football Association’s nationwide knockout series, the PstBet NFA Cup, yesterday as teams battled to advance to the round of 16.

With matches at the Omulunga Stadium in Grootfontein and in Windhoek’s Independence stadium, spectators were entertained as a number of teams scored a lot of goals.

Debmarine Premiership outfit from Rundu, Julinho Sporting FC, comfortably advanced to the next round beating Friends FC 8-1, with Mapenzi Muwanei grabbing four goals.

Nikodemus Haikali scored the only goal for Ongos FC as they beat African United FC 1-0.

Khomas Nampol eventually eased past Swallows FC 4-0. After a goalless first half, they scored four goals, with two by Absalom Iimbondi and one each from Revered Matroos and George Frans, with no response from Swallows.

Michael Uugwanga, a member of the technical team, afterwards spoke to Sport Wrap. “We got killed by their five subs. We could not hold onto the ball, we lacked self belief, we lost our shape and our composure. We did not press them in the second half. Remember, we are a second division team. We could not bully them. Remember, these are kids playing in the MTC Hopsol Youth league.”
