Hub backs BVB series with N$50 000
Namibia Beach Volleyball Hub, in partnership with the Swakopmund Beach Volleyball Academy, recently backed its newly launched multi-tournament circuit with N$50 000.
The series, officially named the Going for Gold Beach Volleyball Series, staged its first leg on 18 April, with the investment reaffirming the hub and academy’s commitment to elevate the sport in the country.
The funding will be directed towards beach volleyball (BVB) tournament infrastructure, branding, live scoring and media production.
In a statement, the hub’s founder, Joachim Schukmann, said the series represents a significant step forward in building a world-class beach volleyball ecosystem for both elite and development-level players.
“Beach volleyball in Namibia deserves a platform that reflects the quality of our players and the potential of our sport.
“The partnership with the Swakopmund Beach Volleyball Academy can deliver something special, as the academy has been building the sport from the ground up for almost a decade,” said Schukmann.
“We want to make sure that no player, regardless of ranking or experience, walks away feeling like a number.”
Player support
The hub has supported top prospects Albertina Matthew and Harris Lameesh, who represented Namibia at the second leg of the Zone Six Beach Volleyball Tour in Maputo, Mozambique, last month.
Support was also extended to Meriam Mendos and Maggie Heita, who secured silver at the inaugural series and have been selected to represent the country at the African Nations Championship qualification tournament in Maputo this weekend.
Schukmann said the newly launched series will feature branded, high-quality tournament environments.
“These will reflect the prestige of the competition. It will also include live scoring and results powered by the hub’s MatchFlow platform.
“Media coverage and player profiles will be distributed through our digital channels, to mention but a few. Further details on the series schedule, registration and tournament locations will be announced in the coming weeks.”
