The Ongos Valley Sevens coastal round concluded on Saturday at the Vineta Sport Stadium in Swakopmund with FNB Kudus and Okahandja Highlanders emerging as champions in the premier and first divisions respectively.

In the premier final, Kudus powered to a 28-12 victory over FNB Unam, sealing their dominance after a strong showing throughout the day.

The Highlanders secured the first division title with a 24–15 win against Sparta.

Orlee Dentlinger, team manager of FNB Dolphin rugby as the host club of the Ongos Valley Sevens coastal round, said the event ran smoothly.

“Everything went very well. The Highlanders played the first division final against Sparta and won, while Kudus and Unam contested the premier league final, with Kudus taking the victory. We are all happy with how the event went,” she said.

The next stop will be the championship round in Windhoek on 24 and 25 October 2025, which will conclude the second edition of the annual tournament.

Now firmly established as a national sporting event, the Ongos Valley Sevens combines rugby with community, wellness and youth development. Sponsored to the value of about N$1 million, the tournament provides prize money, covers logistics, and creates pathways for sevens players to progress towards national representation.
