Old Boys on top of their game

AMH Motor Holdings' WHS Old Boys won their One Day Premier League match against Trustco United by 202 runs in 39.1 overs on Saturday afternoon in Olympia.

Old Boys piled up 325 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs, while United could only reply with 123/10 (all out) in 39.1 overs.

Old Boys’ Shaune Fouché contributed 36 runs with the bat, Gerhard Janse van Rensburg (40), Zacheo van Vuuren (80, not out), while Malan Kruger chased six fours and eight sixes to the boundary for his 109 runs.

Old Boys' Fouché took three wickets for 18 runs; Tangeni Lungameni (2/20); Donovan Zealand (2/14); and Kruger helped with 1/9.

The United side suffered early blows, with the first five batters sent to the showers for a mere 28 runs.

Difficult game

Cheap dismissals by Christiaan Schumacher (8), Ramsay McDonald (12), Michael van Lingen (0), Hendrik van der Walt (2), and Henry Hayes (6) caused havoc and placed their side under great pressure.

Francois Rautenbach (24) and Tiaan Brandt (27) tried their best to steady the ship, but the bowling onslaught from the visitors was too much for the home side.

Although Old Boys Cricket Club won their encounter on Saturday, they will remain in second place on the points table.

KC Griffiths (3/56), M. van Lingen (3/63) and T. Brandt (1/44) took wickets for United.
